Hamro LifeBank is frequently organizing blood donation drives to eliminate blood shortage in Kathmandu. HLB have been digitizing all the blood data from its collection to supply and rolling out our vein to vein project which intends to motivate blood donors by sending an SMS that their blood has saved the life of the patients.
Hamro LifeBank team successfully conducted a smart blood donation event at the World Trade Center, Tripureshwor on 27th July 2019 with medical support from Nobel Hospital. The event was sponsored by PEPE PIZZA. In the event, 179 individuals registered to donate blood but only 105 were qualified. Others were not eligible to donate due to various health and other reasons. Out of 105 donors, 64 of them were first time donors. 46.7% of our donors were female which was very impressive. Usually the female donor count is less than 20%. Most of the donors were under the age of 30 which was quite motivating.
Pepe Pizza provided a complimentary pizza of their choice to all the donors for donor gratification. Donors were also engaged to write their experiences and feelings about blood donation which was pasted on the wall of fame. Realtime blood data collected on that day were also displayed in a digital screen on the venue.
